LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A 13-year-old boy was killed and two others injured, including a 9-year-old girl, following a shooting in Wilmington late Monday, according to authorities.

Los Angeles police responded to the scene near the intersection of North Blinn Avenue and East Denni Street at around 4:45 p.m. The boy was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries, according to an LAPD spokesperson.

The boy was riding in a vehicle driven by another shooting victim, a woman in her 20s who was in critical condition when transported to the hospital, but has since been reported to be stable and undergoing surgery.

The vehicle driven by the adult female victim was stopped when two armed suspects opened fire. The woman drove away before stopping in the 800 block of Eubank Avenue, where a passerby called 911, according to police.
